But if you have an art store near by then you can get your supplies from there.
This may be the most important thing.
If you turn out to enjoy painting with lots of water, then you must have heavy paper. At least 300 gm (140 lbs)
It needn't be expensive.
To be honest it's more about the person using the brush that makes the difference. Just make sure they are for watercolour painting and take care of them.
This set has two types of brushes, round and chisel, which will get you off to a good start.
Quality is more important than quantity.
There are as many makes of paints as there are of brushes and paper. At the end of the day, buy the best you can afford. Twelve colours are ample.

The most used brush.
The bigger the number the bigger the head. Whatever the make of size get one with a good point. It's also helpful to hold the brush if you are able to.

Colouring in is how you started as a child, so let's do that.

Understanding how the paints play with the water is a very valuable part of your learning.
The more you play with your paints, trying out different amounts of water to paint the more confident you will become.
Get better at controlling a round brush.

Some paint pigments are more staining than others. Creat this chart and it will remind you when you come to select you colours for your painting.
Mixing 'dark' colours without using a black.
This is a very useful technique as it helps to give your paintings cohesion by making a dark colour with the ones you are using in your painting.

Continue to understand the different effects you can achieve with varying the amounts of water you use. And how to make colours more intense by layering.
Using primary colours blue and yellow.
To start on your colour mixing adventure, we are taking the three primary colours to mix the secondary colours.
'A' is for apple.
Here you will not only learn how to mix greens, but you will also start to make an object look three dimensional and create shadows.
