Here we introduce Toon Boom Harmony. What it's used for, and why it's the industry standard.
We will go over the key differences of each version of Toon Boom Harmony.
Next we will make our first project to start our animation.
Now we will take a tour of the program, as well as how to customize the workspace.
Here we will change some program settings to make the interface more user friendly. Additionally, settings that will help with rigging later.
Next we will customize the layout of the workspace to work well with both traditional and rigging based animation.
Now we will show how to import different assets, as well as load in our first reference image.
Here we will show the differences between vector and bitmap layers.
Next we will go over some additional layer settings.
Here we will work with the different drawings tools.
Now we will go over layers and how to use drawing substitutions.
In this lecture, we will cover how to clean up linework as well as how to use onion skin.
What is traditional animation?
Next we will start to animate our bouncing ball using frame by frame (traditional style) animation.
Now we will go over the keyframes and inbetweens for our animation.
Next we will go over how to use timing charts and exposure sheets.
What is cut-out animation?
Here we will start by importing our character's reference image. Next we will be begin building our character's hierarchy, in the node view for the head, torso and limbs.
Now we will start our linework, by lining the character's head.
Next we will be doing the line art for our body.
Now we will be going over all the line art for both arms.
Next we will be making our line art for both the legs.
In this lecture, we will show how to make and name a custom color palette.
Now we will start coloring, with the head and body.
Next we will color our arms and legs of our character.
In this lecture, we will set our rotating points for our pegs, using the rotation tool.
Next we will reorganize the order of our pegs, as well as cleaning up the inner lines.
Here we will go further into using our pegs and hierarchies.
Now we will fix our arms by separating the upper arm, from the lower arm.
Next we will fix our legs by separating the upper leg, from the lower leg.
Here we will go over what the most common rigging nodes are and how to use them.
Now we will setup the auto-patches, for our rigging.
Next we will add back breaks in between arms, that the auto-patch has now covered.
Now we will fix the pants, by separating them from the legs.
Here we will add back the breaks in the legs, using the overlay layer.
Next we will finish the hierarchy of our character.
Now we will animate a walk cycle, using our rigged character.
In this lecture, we will have our conclusion. Great job if you got this far, I hope it helps you. keep your faith in Jesus to lead you on your next journey. Great Job everyone.
Do you dream of creating professional-quality 2D animations? Toon Boom Harmony is the industry-standard software used by major studios worldwide, and in this course, you’ll learn how to master it from the ground up.
Starting with the basics, you’ll explore the Harmony interface, customize your workspace, and get comfortable with drawing tools, layers, timeline and the node view. From there, you’ll dive into the foundations of animation, including frame-by-frame drawing, cut-out animation, and scene setup.
As you progress, you’ll build complete character rigs using pegs and hierarchy structures, then bring it to life with walk a cycle. You’ll also learn how to apply effects inside of the node view, as well as load in assets for your project.
For those ready to push further, advanced modules cover rotating pegs, drawing substitutions, and custom color palettes.
To wrap up, you’ll get some tips as well as additional nodes and backdrops to help organize your character’s hierarchy.
By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills and confidence to create animations in Toon Boom Harmony — and a roadmap for turning your passion into a career.
