(Oxford Diploma) Scriptwriting : 16 hours; 16 screenplays!
What you'll learn
- Screenwriting - under pressure!
- Writing a screenplay within an hour of being given a prompt
- The prompt is given and discussed - in real time
- The screenplay written in response to the prompt is then discussed
- Screenplays are included in the course
Requirements
- No
Description
Very straightforward:
1. I take a RANDOM UNSEEN prompt
2. I then brainstorm it in real time - less than 5 minutes. You see me do this
3. The lecture stops and I go and write the Screenplay. Total time maximum: ONE HOUR
4. The second part of the lecture is where I discuss my screenplay
5. There are 16 screenplays with this course so ideally the course lasts 16 days
6. You are encouraged to put your ideas for the prompt in the Q/A. Discussion is key! The more you participate the better the course.
So, what does the student get out of this course?
1. SIXTEEN prompts + discussion (optional)
2. Seeing the end result (as a resource/attached document)
3. Discussion with the writer (Instructor) about WHY that screenplay
4. Opportunity (Q/A) to put own brainstorming and invite comments
5. Encouragement throughout from a very involved Instructor
In general, because of time constraints (1 hour from idea to screenplay) the film is 10-15 minutes long. The Instructor has either produced or directed or acted in over 100 films. He is in Equity, on Spotlight and Starnow.
So this course - this CHALLENGE - is ideal for someone new to screenwriting or just wants the discipline of writing 16 scripts in 16 hours in 16 days!

Hi, I'm Ini Ikpe-Etim Baker
Since attaining my qualification as an Operating Theatre Practitioner in 2014, I've dedicated a decade to honing my skills in anaesthetics, recovery, and endoscopy within operating theatres. Throughout this journey, I've gained invaluable insights into the challenges plaguing the hospital environment, both for my colleagues and our patients, experiencing firsthand the strain and discontent that often pervade these settings.
It became evident to me that the conventional healthcare system falls short in addressing the holistic needs of individuals, neglecting the well-being of both patients and healthcare professionals alike. Despite my tenure in various NHS and private hospitals, the gap in wellness provision remained glaringly apparent.
Through my experiences, I've come to understand that the root of dissatisfaction extends beyond long hours and inadequate compensation; rather, it lies in the lack of awareness and emphasis on holistic well-being. People were not merely frustrated due to external factors but also because they failed to recognise the importance of wellness living in fostering overall health and happiness.
The emergence of the COVID pandemic did not help matters, making Wellness Living even more out of reach to all.
Motivated by this realisation, I made a conscious decision to take action. Thus, my holistic programmes were born—a testament to my commitment to bridging this gap by empowering both healthcare professionals and individuals as a whole with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to prioritise wellness living. It's my firm belief that by addressing these fundamental aspects, we can create a healthier, more fulfilling environment for all involved.
Almost Random Theatre is a theatre company started in 2012. After putting on plays at Oxford and Brighton fringes, taking actors to Poland and Czech Republic, selling plays to schools, putting on many short plays in Oxford, visiting 60+ schools and running 'drama days' it was decided to...slow down.
The theatre's main contribution now is helping with numerous Art Therapy courses.
