A simple 1 down strum to each beat, Em to Asus2 chord progression in 4/4.
1 beat per strum here, all down strums. We also have a mid bar chord change and 3 chords in the progression. D major, A major and E minor.
Here we practise some up strums and build our strength. A 4 chord progression here with on the beat up strums. Am, C, F, and Em chords.
Our first pattern using both up and down strums. Just a two chord change here and a simple pattern to ease us in. Chord progression is C to G, with a cowboy vibe!
A nice easy change from E to Am and C, using up and down strumming patterns with a powerful rhythm.
A reggae style piece to learn with off beat up strumming, using A,D and E style.
A really cool strumming pattern that features muted/dead string strike on beats 2 and 4. A well used pattern with a chord progression featuring C, Am, F and G.
A popular strumming pattern used by many artists from Van Morrison to the Foo Fighters. You may have heard people say Down, Down, Up, Up, Down. This is that pattern and we move through the chords G, Em7, D and C+9.
Building upon our last strumming pattern we add an extra down and up strum at the end of the pattern and speed up the tempo. We have to be very precise with the chord changes now as we have less time in between. The pattern is used in song such as Green Day's "Time of your Life" and Outkast's "Hey Ya". Chords here are Am, C, G and E.
A fast Down, Down, Up, Down, Up pattern here. Based on a Johnny Cash style rhythm using a 1/4/5 chord progression of C, F and G with an unconventional 2 beat turnaround bar. A little bit trickier than our slow cowboy!
Here we have an off beat chord change at the end of bar 1 and bar 3 of our 4 bar chord progression. Changing off beat at count 4 + giving a sense of urgency and momentum. Chords are Em, D, Am and C.
A chord progression in 6/8 timing where we count 2 sets of 3 8th notes in a bar. Giving us the feeling of triplets or 3's, quite a different vibe and feeling to our 4 beats to the bar. Here we are using chords E, G, C and D.
An awesome 16th note strumming pattern here based upon the iconic "Wonderwall" strumming pattern by Oasis. Using very similar chords we have G, Dsus4, A7sus4 as our verse and Em7, A7sus4, C+9 as our chorus.
A chord progression featuring some barre chords and a fast 16th note strumming patterns with many muted/dead string strikes or rakes. Based loosely on Hotel California by the Eagles. Chords are Bm, A, E, F#7, D and G.
Our final pattern is a fast funky 16th note pattern using barre chords and hammer-ons into a chord. We also have a lot of muted strikes here and a real cool 70's vibe.

Hey, for those of you who don't know me I am Jules from GuitarJoolz, a guitar teacher from England with over 25 years experience teaching guitar and playing professionally. I teach online, privately and in educational facilities and I am the creator of the worldwide bestseller "Pure Pentatonic Power".
Recently students had been asking for a course to teach all the popular strumming patterns and also how to count rhythms and put strums in the right places at the right time. And so "15 must learn strumming patterns for guitar" was born.
You have 15 strumming patterns or rhythms based on the most popular strumming patterns I have found over the years. Ones tried and tested and used over and over by your favourite bands and performers. Artists such as Oasis, Bob Marley, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Police, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Green Day, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Eagles, The Foo Fighters, Van Morrison, The Doors etc.
For each lesson you have a professionally recorded track to learn and play along with. It is supplied to you at 3 different speeds to suit everyone's ability. Rhythm charts, chord boxes and strumming directions are all on screen and you have twin HD camera angles to view all demos and lessons. We cover 4/4 timing, 6/8 timing and strumming in quarter notes, eighth notes and 16 notes (which is where things get tricky!). Nothing is left to the imagination and I have your back from start to finish.
This course is fundamental, educational and a lot of fun. See you on the inside!
