Lesson 1 — Greetings, introductions, and the verb “to be”

In this lesson, the student will learn how to greet people, introduce themselves, and say their name in Portuguese. The student will also learn basic classroom expressions and the present tense of the verb ser.

The student will practice expressions such as oi, olá, bom dia, boa tarde, boa noite, and tchau.

They will also learn how to ask and answer simple questions, such as:

Como você se chama?
What is your name?

Eu me chamo...
My name is...

Quem é você?
Who are you?

Eu sou...
I am...

The student will also learn basic classroom commands, such as repita, escute, fale, leia, and escreva.

By the end of the lesson, the student will be able to say their name, greet people, say goodbye, and understand basic classroom instructions in Portuguese.

In this lesson, the student will learn the personal pronouns in Portuguese: eu, você, ele, ela, nós, vocês, eles, elas.

The student will also review the verb ser in the present tense and practice using it to talk about nationality and profession.

The student will learn structures such as:

Eu sou brasileiro.
I am Brazilian.

Ela é médica.
She is a doctor.

Ele é engenheiro.
He is an engineer.

The student will also learn how to ask and answer simple questions, such as:

The lesson will also include basic vocabulary related to nationalities, common professions, and countries.
