If you are a website owner who uses WordPress as your platform then this course is for you.
In this Course we will be working with WordPress sites and create our own WP plugin to extend the websites ability to redirect selected traffic to targeted landing pages that we define upfront.
We will create a WP Plugin that will allow us to send traffic to any of the website's URL of you own hosted WP website. We setup a URL with a keyword that is linked to the "WEBSITE/KEYWORD" and then add one or multiple targeted URLs to this keyword to be redirected to your Udemy course coupons or affiliate links.
We will be looking at building the plugin step by step and discuss what every bit of code means and does. Breaking it down to what every function does and how we can do split testing with this new WP plugin
At the end we will run some tests to make sure we can do some split testing with multiple Udemy course coupon code links. YOURWEBSITE.COM/UDEMY linked to all your udemy courses with coupon codes.
Lastly we will also work with samples of how to use the plugin in different areas of marketing.
The major benefit of this plugin is that you can edit your promotional URL and just change the targeted info and all you Youtube, FB and Twitter links remain the same but the redirect change or your coupon code changed.
What is a WordPress plugin?
By making your own plugin you are extending WordPress, i.e. building additional functionality on top of what WordPress already offers. For example, you could write a plugin that displays links to the ten most recent posts on your site.
Or, using WordPress’ custom post types, you could write a plugin that creates a full-featured support ticketing system with email notifications, custom ticket statuses, and a client-facing portal. The possibilities are endless!
Most WordPress plugins are composed of many files, but a plugin really only needs one main file with a specific formatted header.
What to do if you do not have a PHP Code editor?
We will use The Websites build in Code Editor that is part of File Manager on Control Panel.
WordPress needs to know what this file is and we will teach WP where to look for the information.
Adding the Menu for this plugin in the WordPress Admin
Setup the Actions to run the redirects
Each Action in WP needs a Function to tell it what to do and where to start., what to fetch and dispaly the results. So we will build some functions
The way we are working with this creation, we will install the plugin from the start and test it as we do the build.
We will test linking one or more targeted URL for split testing
Take time to ask questions, comment on what you have learned so far and remember to leave us a rating when you are done
Here is the full code of the plugin that we have created in this course, you can modify it as you please and when you have a better working version please share it with us
