Section 1: Start Here
08:21

Do you ever sit back in surprise at the success of other people and wonder how you could become more successful? Well, simply put, there are no miracles when it comes to being successful - just a series of plans that, if put to use, will ensure you get ahead of the game. Many people believe that it is luck that determines whether a person becomes successful or not. However, it’s amazing how much luckier you get the more you work your plan so perhaps luck has a far smaller part to play in success than you might think.

This course is specifically designed to help you become a leadership candidate or help you become a better leader.  I use simple, down to earth concepts to teach fundamental principles that all good leaders possess.

If you complete the course you will know what those fundamentals are, you will be able to identify the ones you already posses and how to gain all of the fundamentals in your quest for being a good leader.

Section 2: What Do You Belive
06:29

Through this lecture and completing the pdf. download you will have a better sense of who you are, what your capabilities are and even what you may need to improve on.

05:19

Good leaders. . . . strong leaders . . have a strong sense of who they are.  In other words, they know that they know, they believe in themselves.

Believing in yourself is all about being sure that you are going to do whatever you want even if others were against you.

At the end of this lecture you will have a firm understanding of what it is going to take to become a good leader

06:22

The most successful people take advice; the least successful people resist it.  In this session you will learn how to recognize your limitations and when to seek outside help in making good choices.

If there’s just one thing that you could do to improve yourself, create a firmer foundation and make it possible to achieve success in leadership, it would be to solicit and accept as much expert feedback as you can get.

04:31

To achieve your personal best means thinking in a way that produces the best results every time.

To achieve your personal best or to be your best can only happen when you have a clearly defined vision for your life. Without a vision it would be difficult to make the best decisions, consult with the best people or even know where to start on your path to becoming your best.

This session will instruct you in developing a clearly defined, personal vision statement.  You will begin using this statement as you take this course and throughout your business and personal life.
05:30

When you are confident the insecurities that can hold you back from putting your best foot forward will disappear. If you lack self confidence then this session is just what you need.  I will teach you simple strategies you can use to build your self confidence.  At the end of the day, how you are perceived by others is in direct relationship as to how you see yourself.  You must have a great deal of self confidence if you want to be a good leader.

Section 3: The Origin of Success
02:22

There are no shortcuts and you have to be ready to pay the price for measurable change. In the business of LEADERSHIP, the first step is identifying the areas of your career and life that must be improved upon so that not only measurable change can occur, but also lasting change. This session is the introduction to the information you will learn in this section

09:36

A leading leadership consulting firm reviewed over 2000 company’s, new hires’ performance, and compiled the reasons new hires fail. They found that a whopping 26 percent of new hires fail due to their inability to accept feedback from those they work with, including bosses, colleagues, and customers. We call that Coachability.  26% can’t be coached!

The most successful people take advice; the least successful people it.

In this session I will discuss with you coaching and how to use it.  How to become coachable if you are not already and remember 26% are not and perhaps even give you a few thoughts on how you should coach others.

08:58

To be effective, you as a leader must have a solid understanding of how your emotions and actions affect the people around them. The better you relate to and work with others, the more successful you will be.

Take the time now to work on self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Working on these areas will help you excel in the future!

Consider this; 17 percent of new hires fail due to lack of motivation. They lack the drive to succeed and excel in the job.  I need to be clear; I am talking here about self-motivation and not the kinds of things that happen to you at work to help motivate you.

In this session I will help you understand what motivates you. Different people are motivated by different things and at different times in our lives.

However, we all have a tendency to work better when we love what we are doing.

It’s easier to get out of bed in the morning, we are happier in our work, and happier in general. And those that work with you and for you notice how you “act” about your job.  So, What does motivate you?

Section 4: Achieving Success Is Up To You
05:26

There are no miracles when it comes to being successful - just a series of strategies that, if applied, will ensure you get ahead of the game.

Michelangelo is quoted as saying,  “The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”

In this session you will gain an understanding of the importance of goals in order to become a good leader.  And you will learn how dreams are an important first step in establishing goals.

07:21

Walt Disney explained his success this way: “I dream, I test my dreams against my beliefs, I dare to take risks, and I execute my vision to make those dreams come true.” Dream. Believe. Dare. Do.

Walt makes it sound simple.  It's not!  Not by a long shot!  But this formula is workable and in this session I begin the process of constructive dreaming and how to believe so strongly in your dream you will dare to make your dream a reality.  Once again, there are no shortcuts in your quest to become a good leader just a number of strategies, when implemented work together to bring you the sought for results.  This session, if applied is one of those strategies.
06:36

Brian Tracy In his bestseller "Goals!", teaches there are four reasons why people don't set goals:

We don't ever learn the importance of goals.

We don't know how to set goals.

We fear failure.

We fear rejection.

When you finish this session you will be able to identify which of the 4 reasons you have used in the past for not setting goals.  And you will be ready to set realistic and achievable goals based on the dreams you have had.

Section 5: Creating a Positive Pattern
08:41

Leadership isn't a noun -- it's a verb. Being in charge doesn't make you a leader. Effective leadership is providing the vision and motivation to a team so that they work together to toward the same goal.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said, "Good leaders are people who are trusted by followers."

To be trusted by others we need to trust ourselves.  How about you?  Do you trust you?  Do you know how you will respond under stress?  When under pressure will your true self come out?

Creating a positive pattern of behavior is nothing more than replacing bad habits with good habits, and in this section I will take you step by step in identifying and then replacing bad habits with good habits.  You will, at the end of this section, have developed the habit of pro-active thinking and response.  This strategy is an indispensable tool in leadership.

In this first session you will learn what motivates habits, and I will introduce you to the first step in identifying why we do what we do; how habits, good or bad, control our lives.

03:44

Habit change is work but it is for a good cause, you.

We will now dive a little deeper into this huge pool of information on how to establish good habits in your life; especially those habits that have an effect on your leadership abilities.

Belief is at the core of modifying many habits and plays a critical role in habit change.  Beyond belief is a formula you will learn in this session, a formula that will aid you in changing or even replacing habits.

06:07

In every habit we perform there is first a cue that triggers the habit then the routine we go through in anticipation of the reward.  Whether it is a bad habit or a good habit they are both governed the same.

During this session you will learn how to recognize those cues that trigger the habit routine and discover how to change the routine but still earn the reward.

05:16

Just as a reminder; It’s easy to get carried away with habit changes, especially when taking a course like this. It is easy take on too many changes for us to deal with at once.

Biting off more than we can chew is a common trait with most of us when it comes to personal change. Whether we’re talking about changing eating habits, exercising more, quitting smoking or saving money, the more habits we try to change at one time, the less likely we are to succeed. So as we move forward, keep it simple.

This session is to check in with yourself; remind yourself what your vision is and where you want to go with this course.  Then in the next session we jump back into the work.

03:14

Rewards are powerful because they satisfying cravings.  How do you identify the reward?

During this session you will be expected to brainstorm, either alone or with someone you trust that knows you.  As you fill in the blank, "how do I feel after I. . . " creating a list of all the words that come to mind. If you want to change a habit you first need to identify why you repeat the habit in the first place.  You will learn how to do that in this session.

06:21

As the title implies you will learn 4 easy steps to use to create positive change in your life.  Think of this session as a blueprint for your ultimate success in leadership.

03:01

Now it is time to discover what the cue is or what triggers you need to perform the habit. I walk you through it step by step.  You will learn how to spot the cue and how to deal with it.

04:02

By now you should know and understand that a habit is a choice that you deliberately make at some point, and then stop thinking about, but continue doing, often every day.

Put another way, a habit is a formula our brain automatically follows:  When you see CUE, you will do ROUTINE in order to get a REWARD. To re- engineer that formula, you need to begin making choices again. And the easiest way to do this, according to study after study, is to have a plan. At the end of this session you will have the tools you need to develop your own plan to change or eliminate habits in your life.

Section 6: Discovering Your Personal Values
04:49

You will learn the importance of having a set of Personal Values that govern your thoughts and actions and why this is important in leadership.

05:32

It's one thing to have a set of core values, it's something else to bring those values into balance.  You will explore 8 areas in your life and how your values impact each.  You will come to understand the importance of bringing your value driven ambitions and obligations into balance in  those 8 areas.

Section 7: Define Your Operating System
02:09

There is a basic, fundamental law upon which all of the others rest.  Called the law of the harvest, it says that “as a man soweth so shall he also reap.”  You can learn the laws of successful farming that would result in a successful harvest, so also you can, by learning the laws of leadership reap a successful harvest in your leadership career.

05:56

What makes a good leader?  Do all good leaders possess the same characteristics, values, habits and personality? Hardly!  However, All good leaders have some characteristics in common.  In this session you will learn the first four of the 10 most critical characteristics all good leaders have in common.

08:37

Training new members and creating a productive work environment all depend on healthy lines of communication. Whether that stems from an open door policy to your office, or making it a point to talk and listen to your staff on a daily basis.  Your team will learn to trust and depend on you, and will be less hesitant to work harder.

In this session on communication you will learn the importance of good communication skills in leadership including the communication skill of listening. You will download Seven Tips for Being a Good Listener”, and learn how to implement those 7 tips into your communication skills.

05:39

Confidence is a key driver of effective leadership. The ability to both possess and exhibit confidence will have a measurable impact on your ability to lead well.

In this session you will learn what confidence is and what it is not.  You will learn that higher self-confidence leads to higher performance.

When you are confident it is much easier to work with a positive attitude.  You will learn that how you act has a profound influence on how you team will act and how to make that influence positive.

04:05

Not all human beings are the same.  You have cultural perspectives, language barriers, different educational backgrounds, personality traits and varying value systems with which individuals come preconditioned that greatly affects how information is processed and interpreted.  In order to optimize your effectiveness as a leader, you must have the ability to customize your approach on a person by person basis, based on the situation at hand. You will gain an understanding of the importance to execute this concept as it will play a huge role in your ability to get the best work out of your team and other partners along the journey.

04:42

In this session you will learn three qualities all good leaders posses and gain an understanding of how they fit into the habit of commitment.

03:09

Some decisions will not always be spelled out in black and white. You may be forced at times to deviate from your set course and make an on the fly decision. This is where your creativity will prove to be vital.

You will be introduced to the concept of using Storyboards in this session as a tool to help you and your team become creative in solving problems.
Section 8: Turning Dreams Into Goals
02:50

Ask yourself, “What do I REALLY want out of life?  This is the introductory session for this section and presents the key to gaining an understanding of what you do want out of life.

02:51

In this session you will learn how to use a blueprint to construct a dream, and you will learn 5 categories that every dream blueprint should have.

03:39

This session is a step by step example of how to use a storyboard in building your dream.  If you are familiar with the use of storyboards you can skip this session but there may be a gem hidden in the information that would help in constructing dreams.

10:27

Continuing on with storyboards; now you will learn the importance of using images as well as words on your board. We all dream in images not words on a piece of paper or a white board.

Section 9: A Few Final Thoughts
05:51

In this session I recap the course in just a few sentences and then give you one more gem to add to your knowledge on what makes a good leader.
