Section 2: Blogging 101

Business blogging is not just posting anything that came up to your mind. A well crafted blog post will attract targeted leads to your website. Here I will share what are the things that make up to an ideal blog post.

How To Find Ideas for Your Blog Articles?

01:53

Your article’s headline is the most important element of your blog. It’s as much important as the content itself. It will show up in the news feeds and this will tell the reader if they want to click on it or not. Let me share a cheatsheet I use to write effective blog headlines.

04:56

Here in this video I will show you the practical side of constructing a better headline for your blog post. By writing a good headline that has the search keywords in it and invites people to click on it, you will get the most result for your blog post.

When it comes to blogging and online content creation, a compelling image/picture can say a lot about the topic you are discussing. It makes the article fun to read. But where do you find copyright free images you want to use on your blog? Here let me show you where and how,

06:57

Don’t just paste text into your website as blog posts. Learn how to properly format it so it will be easier and fun to read for the readers. Include sub headlines, relevant images, links and bullet points. Here let me show you how you can properly format your blog post for the web.

03:07

When you post on your blog, the full content shows up in your blog’s index page and category page. Which is not very good for reading, people will be bored scrolling through long text. Add a read more button so that you can put a teaser on front and when people click on the “Read More” button, they will get to the full article. See how to do that in your blog.

02:42

Did you know you can schedule a blog post? You can future date your blog article and it will be automatically published on that date and time. Makes your life easier by taking care of blog updates ahead of time. Learn how to future date a post.

Post categories and post tags are ways to organize your blog posts so it will be easier for your blog reader to find them. Here I will show you how to properly use categories and tags in your WordPress based blog.

Most of the time people make this mistake of using so many tags and categories. Avoid this by adding just few categories for your blog. Use just 4 categories for your entire blog and only 3 tags per post (if you want to use tags) Write at least 5-10 blog articles before you create categories.

02:23

Your blog post has a permalink or a url that it creates automatically. Here I will give you some tips on effective permalink writing which will be meaningful to your blog reader, as well as be optimized for search engines.

Section 3: Syndicating Your Blog
02:43

WordPress has a default feed that comes with the blog posts. This feed makes it easier for many blog search engines to find your blog updates. Feedburner is a special service created to handle blog feeds. Here in this video I will share how to create a feedburner account and create your own blog feed.

06:32

Feedburner has this special feature called email subscription. You can activate this from feedburner and people can sign up for your blog feed. So when you post to your blog your subscribers will automatically receive these posts in their inbox. Let me show you how to setup feedburner email subscriptions.

02:07

WordPress automatically pings your blog when you post to it. But if you want to speed it up, you can manually ping your blog with a ping service. By pinging your blog you are letting the search engines know about the new update and get listed on search quicker.

06:18

Right after people finish reading your blog you must make it easy for them to share it with their friends. Here I will show you how you can add social sharing buttons in your blog posts. By adding popular share buttons you can gain more visitors coming to your blog from the shares.

Instructor Biography

Tamal Anwar, Web Designer, Developer

Hi this is Tamal Anwar Chowdhury (তমাল আনোয়ার চৌধুরী), better known online just as Tamal Anwar.

I’m a freelance web designer in my late 20s and I am based in Bangladesh.

I am a blogger, I wrote about blogging and internet marketing from 2008 to 2015 at one of my early blogs.

I learned how to design websites in 2004 and published my first website in 2007.

After that I moved onto blogging. I used a free blog and made money from it. I then created a new blog to share the things I learned so far. That website was BlogKori Dot Com. I received some requests from my blog readers to help them with their websites. That’s when I started working as a freelance web designer.

After so many years I worked on more than 100 website projects. Learned tons of stuff (still learning) and applying them to build modern and functional websites.

At the moment I do web design, I build custom themes for WordPress, I write articles in this website and make video training on Udemy.
