Description

Welcome to volume Two of the blender modelling series. This series is focused on the modelling aspects of blender 3D where we will learn how to use all of the tools at blenders disposal to create fantastic 3D models for whatever purpose we want.

In volume two, we look to master all of the key features of object mode in the 3D viewport such as the ability to join objects together and creating duplicates of selected objects. Blender series courses are normally short and focused on specific topics and can easily be completed in a day per course while offering valuable knowledge in how to use blender.

The course finishes with two challenges and a quiz as a means of testing your knowledge and how you can apply that knowledge to your own projects.

WHAT IS BLENDER?

The big question you might be asking is "what is blender", you may be viewing this course because you want to know more about it. Blender is a free 3D software platform that allow the user to perform multiple computer based applications such as 3D modelling, sculpting, animation, movie editing, image editing and game design. The best part being is that it is open source, meaning that you can use blender as much as you like and never have to worry about spending a penny.

THIS COURSE IS SUBJECT TO UDEMY'S 30 DAY MONEY BACK GARUNTEE IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE COURSE. PLEASE LOOK AT THE COURSE CURRICULUM BEFORE PURCHASED SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY THE CONTENT YOU ARE GETTING.

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY 3D MODELLING!

Who is the target audience?
  • Anyone looking to improve there knowledge in 3D modelling and blender
  • Not for those who already have plenty of experience with blender

Welcome to the course

Preview 01:48

Precise navigation of your objects by using the snapping tool to operate the movement of objects in increments of one blender unit at a time instead of the standard free flow method.

Preview 05:15

Snap the geometry of two objects together to make appear as though they have become one object. This can allow you to create really detailed looking objects simply by using blenders pre made objects or your own meshes.

Preview 07:20

Create an exact double of an object and be able to edit that object independent of the original. An appended duplicate becomes its own object and only has the qualities of the original until it is edited. The Hotkey for this is 'shift d'.

Appended Duplicates
02:59

Create an exact double where the duplicate will always be the same shape as the original object. Linked doubles can have a different location, rotation and scale to the original but will always have the same look.

Linked Duplicates
05:37

How to join two objects together to become a single object

Joining Objects
04:00

Split the 3D viewport into four so that we can view our object from multiple angles

The Quad View
02:51

Locking a transform means that you cant accidentally modify it in the 3D viewport, such as moving along the z axis when you only want to move on the x and y

Locking Transforms
04:19

Edit the location, rotation and scale of multiple objects based on the influence of the selected object

Proprtional Editing (Object mode)
08:04

If you are not using the gizmo, then it can actually get in the way, but don't worry as we can hide the gizmo if we need to

Hiding The Gizmo
01:34

How to move the 3D cursor to an exact coordinate in the 3D world using the scene tab in 3D viewport

Positioning the 3D Cursor
05:33

Changing the size of the blender grid

Adjusting the Grid Size
06:25

what are origins, how they work and how to change them

Setting Origins
08:44

When to use flat and smooth shading to improve the look without changing the geometry

Smooth and Flat Shading
06:53

learn about orientations such as global and local which dictate the direction of the x, y and z axis

Transform Orientations
09:00

How to hide objects that you want to keep but don't want to get in the way of modelling other objects

Hiding and Unhiding
03:46

Blender uses a layer system where we can move objects to different layers to free up space without deleting them

Moving Objects to Layers
06:06

Make more than one layer visible at any one time

Multiple Visible layers

Hello, my name is Joe Baily and I am a Udemy instructor who specialises in computer graphics software and sport coaching, quite a combination I know. I have been involved in computer graphics for several years where I have developed my skill sets in asset creation, 3D modelling, animation, game creation using tools such as Blender, Adobe, Gimp etc.

In addition I have also gained a great deal of knowledge in the field of computer coding with languages such as C++, java and HTML. On the flip side of this I have also worked as a sports coach as my official profession where I have worked in multiple environments from schools to sports clubs to summer camps. I have over 10 years experience in sport coaching and have coached football, tennis and athletics amongst many other sports.
