Hello and thank you for registering on the course. It’s designed to help you become a practising graphic designer, either as an employee in a consultancy, as a freelancer, or as someone with their own graphic design agency.

I want to start by introducing you to a concept called DACOM.

DACOM is a mnemonic which stands for:

1. Design your business. You have to create a concept. What service are you offering? Why should clients choose you?

2. Advertise your service. This includes your website, and free and paid-for marketing activity, including social media.

3. Then you have to Convert each sales lead as it comes in. Most designers do that really badly. That’s a great opportunity for you to succeed massively..

4. Then you carry out the necessary Operations to perform your service, including the use of software. They include generating ideas, sketching, and using software to produce the finished artwork.

Finally, 5. you have to get the Money, that is get paid, and in doing so stay legal.
