How to get your own personalized certificate for your wall—or a CEU certificate! directly from me when you complete the course
Well, it is an aromatherapy course after all, so let's get the essential oils out right now. Download the complete Ebook from your resources, it has all of the information from the course so you can refer to it at anytime.
I have just realized that you can change the PDF documents in your resources to word docs with this free tool and then you can modify them if you want to add your own spa name, logos, website etc.
Here I not only let you know which grade of essential oils you should buy for maximal results therapeutically, but I also tell a little story as well.
So why do plants have essential oils? Well, I will explain all in this lecture for you.
Essential oils have been used for thousands of years so I will give you a very brief look at some of the history of essential oil usage and how 4 thieves used essential oils to steal the possessions from people who had died from the bubonic plague but because they rubbed this specific essential oil combination on their skin, they did not die and could freely walk around stealing jewelry and money from the dead bodies.
Lets look at the different ways that essential oils are extracted. we go into the world of essential oils, CO2 extracts, absolutes and hydrolats. What are all of these? You are about to find out.
Essential oils can vary enormously in cost and although there are many factors that affect cost, there is one factor that really makes the difference .
It is essential(excuse the pun) to know what to look for when buying essential oils. The final lecture in the course I give my recommendation for a company that has 100% pure, unadulterated essential oils that I really like and they are also at great prices.
When you spend your hard earned money on E.O.s it is important to know how to look after them and also the shelf life of the different essential oils as they can vary greatly.
In a perfect world, we would buy all organic essential oils but the availability and cost makes it very difficult for most of us. However, I think because of the extraction method of citrus essential oils it is really important to buy organic when possible.
Just because your citrus oils may be old, we still can use them so don't ditch them just yet.
Make sure you always check your citrus essential oils for photosensitivity.
So if lime essential oil is highly photosensitive, is a fresh lime too?
Here are the various ways essential oils get adulterated and one of the ways to test if your essential oil has been cut with a base oil. Check out this link to see great in-depth article on adulteration and testing methods.
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/adulteration-essential-oils-detection-techniques-dr-sudhir-mestri
There are testing methods that can detect essential oil purity. They are really the gold standard in testing methods that we have today and helps a lot to check whether the essential oil has been adulterated. You should always look to see that your oils that you are going to buy have been tested.
Here is what happened to the piece of paper that I put the two essential oils on, you will see what happened
NEW! This is awesome! The dilution calculator!!

Let's get started on learning how to blend.
A diffuser is one of the most common ways to appreciate essential oils, here are some fabulous combinations for you to try.
There is a lot of talk about diffusing essential oils with pets, especially cats because they don't metabolize certain constituents of some essential oils as well. Please make your own decisions but I have provided you with links here to hear what experts in the field recommend. I personally have diffused essential oils for over 30 years and owned cats and dogs and have never had any problems
The first is from World expert in essential oil safety Robert Tisserand and his thoughts
https://tisserandinstitute.org/cats-essential-oil-safety/
The second is from Melissa Shelton Melissa Shelton DVM attained her degree from The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She is the owner of Crow River Animal Hospital in Howard Lake, MN – where her work with the medical use of essential oils for animals began in 2008. In 2011, she dedicated her practice solely to the research and advancement of veterinary aromatic medicine.

At the end of all this, I imagine I am preaching to the converted because I would expect that if you are studying an aromatherapy course, there is a good chance that you have a cat and a very good chance that you diffuse essential oils in your house...and millions worldwide do the same thing and cats are not dying left, right and center.
Here are some of the things that you will need to buy.
Before you start blending, you should first do these things.
Let's take a look at how to blend by using their specific notes. It is not necessary to blend using the notes and in the following sections you will see that I don't focus on the notes so much, but you can change any of the formulas of their essential oils with the knowledge that you learn in this section. One of the biggest problems I have found when trying to make a blend is knowing which qualities each oils has. For example, if you want to make a soothing massage blend which of your essential oils are considered soothing? Here I give you a ton of PDF files for you to download so that you can refer to them and also know their specific notes if you want.
Essential oils are extremely potent and need to be treated with care. Please read the safety guidelines in the resources. It is extremely important that you observe the dilution rates at all times so that you do not have any reactions to the oils. As always, do a test patch first with new oils to make sure. Please note that I have two different dilution tables regarding the number of drops. As I mention in the lecture, drops vary greatly due to the viscosity of the oils and also the sizes of the orifice reducers vary too (between 20-35 drops). What I have done in this lecture is given you a very simple and easy way to remember the dilution rates. I have also given you a dilution table from Robert Tisserand where he puts the drops somewhere in the middle (the average size) of the 20-35 drops size range. You can use either table you like, mine or the one from Tisserand.
You can really get even more precise by addressing specific emotional states with certain essential oils.
