***UPDATED FOR iOS7***
Create professional looking app icons in minutes WITHOUT hiring a graphic designer! Detailed instructions and templates included with this course! Perfect for any level of Photoshop user!
Get your mobile apps noticed in the iTunes store! Now you can create beautiful app icons easily. Make multiple versions of your icon for testing before your app goes live. No programming or design experience required!
What makes this icon design course different is that it won't teach you how to make an app icon from scratch! That's the boring stuff! Instead, the initial set-up is already done... leaving you to the fun part like choosing pre-built frames, backgrounds and texture overlays! Once you've selected the base elements, simply add an image or graphic from your app.
Included with this course:
Now is the time to take control of your icon design or even start your own icon design business!
Test Icons Without XCode
I will show you how to load your newly designed icons onto an iOS device so you can see what it will look like on the home screen. This is not just an image superimposed on a static background. Your iOS device will load the icon and you can scroll through your home screen just like a regular app. In other words, it is the actual app icon on your device. The best part is that you don't need a Mac or XCode!
You can even have clients load the icon you're designing on their own device so they can preview how it will actually look when their app is live. Don't worry, it's easy to do... even for tech challenged clients! A great "service" you can offer that will differentiate you from other designers and developers!

Section 1: Introduction
Welcome to "How to Create Top Ranking Mobile App Icons". Please watch this introductory video first and find out what you can to look forward to!
Section 2: File Downloads
This is where you will download the Photoshop templates that are included with this course. The editable layers and backgrounds will help you achieve hundreds of unique combinations when designing your icon. The files are in .zip format and need to be unzipped before using. A total of 250MB free space on your hard drive is required. Photoshop CS2 or higher is required to use these files.
This is where you download "Icon Sizer". This is a set of Photoshop actions that will easily resize your icons with a couple of clicks. Settings are pre-built to the guidelines set forth in Apple's Image Design Guidelines. The video tutorial for "Icon Sizer" can be found at the end of the course.
Section 3: Template Tutorials
This tutorial explains the features of the "Basic App Icon" template. This is also the first tutorial you should watch because it explains many of the common elements found in all the included templates. Use this tutorial as an introduction to the layout of the rest of the templates included in this course.
This is the tutorial for both the "Bottom Tab Icon" and "Top Tab Icon" templates. These templates are virtually identical except for the positioning of the small tab on the frame. The tab allows a small amount of text to be placed in this area.
The "Raised Icon" template features a larger edge at the bottom giving it an illusion of the icon being slanted back slightly. It also has colored borders to help accent backgrounds and images.
Book icons are popular and here's a template that will allow you to create either a flat graphic or semi-3D type book icon. This tutorial is for both the "Book Icon" and "Book Icon 3D" templates.
The "Simple App Icon" template is a universal icon that can be used for a variety of apps. It features several frame types for a distinctive look. This tutorial also demonstrates how layering in Photoshop can create an awesome looking icon!
The "Solid Icon" template features a robust frame giving it an illusion of depth. The icon is built from the perspective of looking directly down at it. Various colors and edges help make customization easy.
|The "Thick Metallic Icon" template has a very tough look to it. The icon is built with a slight angle to it allowing users to see the thick metallic edge.
Section 4: Resizing and Testing Icons
In this video, you will learn how to install the "Icon Sizer" utility into Photoshop. Icon Sizer is a set of Photoshop actions that resizes your icons to Apple Design Guidelines with a couple of clicks.
This video will show you how to load your icon onto an iOS device even if you don't own a Mac. This is extremely helpful if you want to see how your icon will look on an actual device. You can even have clients view icons that are still in the design stage on their device as well!
