A simple lighting setup to get you started if you want to record yourself with your webcam. This setup uses 2 units of 4 feet florescent light tubes placed at an angle of around 35 to 40 degrees to where you sit.
Selecting a decent webcam. The most popular and good quality webcam from reviews is the Logitech C920. An alternative is the Microsoft Life Cam Studio which can also record in High Definition.
Avoid webcams that cannot capture at least 720p video.
Selecting a good quality microphone can improve your recordings. In this lecture, you will hear samples from a USB microphone, a micro 4/3 camera, and a smartphone to give you an idea of the sound quality.

For recording in the home or office without a special quiet room or studio, get a dynamic microphone. Condenser microphone are too sensitive and tend to pick up background noise.

This lecture shows you how to use Global Sources in OBS so that you only set the settings for one source once, Your settings will be consistent throughout different scene. This is especially useful for webcam but can be use for recording your screen too.
Use the Scene Collection function to help you organize your scenes and sources for different types of recording
Set and use Hotkeys so that you can switch from one scene to another smoothly giving a professional look, and to reduce editing after your recording.
Adjust your screen capture with Edit Scene function to resize any video source eg. a logo overlay, your window capture, to ensure there are not black borders in your ensuing video.
Create screen capture video and record yourself speaking with a webcam at the same time to create attention grabbing videos.
Use chroma key settings to capture green screen or blue screen, special effects with your webcam. Record yourself so that you will be inside your screen captures.
