Course Description

Have you ever wanted to paint nature scenes from your imagination without directly copying a photo? My in-depth digital painting course will teach you how to master the art of creating landscapes with Corel Painter. This course features 4 different hands on projects. -- Sunset Sky, Thunderstorm, Starry Desert and Jungle Waterfall. Each lesson is about an hour long.

Discover advanced painting techniques like underpainting and glazing which were popular among classical painters. Modern techniques will also be explored, like painting repeating objects with a custom Image Hose Nozzle and using layers to compose your paintings. Each lesson starts with a warm-up video which will help you memorize observations about how each landscape element looks in real life. Next, we'll use those observations to create a digital painting from start to finish. As I paint, I will be describing my process step by step. I make it easy to follow along by highlighting each important step and showing a view of my hand while I paint on my Wacom Cintiq 24HD tablet.

Included in this course is a custom Corel Painter workspace which contains all of the brushes and tools required to paint along with the lessons. About Warm-Ups

We will start each week by making observations about the type of landscape we will be painting. By analyzing photos of each landscape element in detail, we will gain a deeper understanding of how to paint each element from memory. When we are ready to create our assignment painting, we will draw from these observations and use them to assist us as we compose scenes from our imagination.

The images used in this video are public domain photographs I found by doing a web search for images which are in the public domain. It's recommended that you download some of your own reference images to examine at home.

I'm a Seattle based artist and educator with over 10 years of experience working as a professional artist. I have exhibited and sold artwork in countries all around the world, and I specialize in digital painting with Corel Painter and a Wacom tablet. I enjoy painting a variety of subjects, including landscape painting, still-life, impressionism, surrealism, cartooning and abstract art.

As an educator, I share my illustration techniques as video tutorials on my YouTube channel that has over 37,000 subscribers and nearly 6.5 Million views. My channel features over 700 video tutorials that teach nearly every aspect of digital painting with software such as Corel Painter, Photoshop, ArtRage and Adobe Illustrator. I also work with sponsors like Wacom to review their tablets and products for digital painting. In my studio, I use a Wacom Cintiq 24HD and I paint outdoors on a Wacom Cintiq Companion.

I have been teaching art lessons for over 5 years, and provide both in-person lessons and online lessons. Students have traveled from as far away as Qatar to study in person with me.

I have been using Corel Painter for over 10 years. As a Corel Painter Master Elite, Beta Tester and member of the Corel Painter Advisory Council, I provide recommendations for improvements to the software. I am fully endorsed by Corel and I have an in-depth understanding of how to use the Corel Painter software.
