Educational Technologist

Hi Everybody!

My name is Lisa Gestrine, and I am an Educational Technologist and a self defined nerd. Two passions of mine are education and technology, and to have a job that combines the two is a true blessing.

In 2012, I graduated from Iowa State University with my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Educational Technology. After student teaching, I realized that educational technology was my true passion, so I applied to graduate school. In 2013, I graduated with a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology. I am also a certified Instructional Designer.

I have worked with children from K-12 grade and students and faculty in higher education. I design online courses, train faculty and staff how to use all types of technology, and maintain and troubleshoot learning management systems. I have also had experiences designing instructional materials for non-profits, worked in a virtual reality lab, and used technology to assist students who are hearing and vision impaired.

It's safe to say that my many experiences with technology have made my passion for it grow, and I am now eager to share my knowledge with others in education.

There are so many ways to use technology in the classroom that it can become overwhelming. I have made it a mission to help any and every instructor that I can to become more familiar and comfortable with technology in the classroom.

"Teachers need to integrate technology seamlessly into the curriculum instead of viewing it as an add-on, an afterthought, or an event." - Heidi Haynes Jacobs
