The first thing you need to do is write everything down .. and i mean everything.

We get so caught up in our heads that it is so hard to figure out how we are really feeling - more often than not we are overwhelmed but not 100 per cent sure why or how we got like that.

So start by using these headings and write down everything that comes to your mind. Now dont worry what you write when i started this the first line i wrote was "This is so dumb i dont know why i am doing this" Funny but then i decided to put sections to it and that helped me alot.

Start with

  1. I am ......
  2. I was brought up in
  3. As a child my favourite things were...
  4. Now i am an adult and i am ..
  5. My favourite things are..
  6. At the moment i am feeling
  7. If i think back to one of my earliest memories the feeling i had was...
  8. Describe all the feelings you have felt in the last week, month and highlight the ones that you feel on a daily basis.
  9. If you could be on the highest mountain and scream at the top of your lungs what would you scream out..
  10. If you dont have any words just sit quietly and draw - doddle on the paper or write words and draw the images that come to mind with your words.

This execerise isnt one that is right or wrong. its just to start the process of getting everything out of your head. I try to do this once a month because i am a horder of feelings. i bottle things up and as we know that is never healthy.
