Quick Biography

Jed Guinto is an Australian technical trainer who specialises in Aerospace Engineering, System/Database Design, Computer Programming and High Density Data Analysis. He has an Advanced Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (RMIT 2006-07), a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering with Honours (RMIT 2008-10), a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Management (RMIT 2011) and is currently doing his Ph.D. in Advanced Composite Structures and Nonlinear Acoustic Systems (RMIT 2015-Present). He has been trained by some of the brightest and innovative minds in Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing, Mechanical and Computer Engineering in the world.

In 2011 he travelled to Augsburg, Germany as an Aerospace Engineer and performed Structural Strength Analysis on aircraft's such as the Airbus A320, A330, A340, A350 and the Boeing 747.

In 2012 he returned to Australia to tutor and mentor underprivileged and disadvantaged school students in physics, english, biology, chemistry and mathematics.

From 2013-14 he was employed by Ford Motor Company as the Asia Pacific and Africa Tooling Systems Engineer. Programs and Databases he developed have been utilized in several countries.

In 2015, he was awarded the ARC Discovery Grant Scholarship and granted Full Research Funding for the next 3 years from the Australian Government to begin his Ph.D studies at RMIT. His focus is on Damage Diagnosis of Composite Structures through the use of Nonlinear Ultrasonic Techniques. His research will have applications in the Aerospace, Mechanical and Computer Engineering fields with additional applications in Health and Medicine.

He will be researching under renowned Aerospace Engineers such as Professor Chun Wang, former Head of Advanced Composites Technologies Research for Air Vehicles, Defence Science and Technology for Australia and current Professor and Director of the Sir Lawrence Wackett Aerospace Centre at RMIT University. He will also be working under former NASA Ames Senior Research Engineer Dr. Jon Watmuff in teaching Computational Engineer Analysis methods to undergraduate students.

Complete Biography

Jed was born in Philippines but grew up in Melbourne, Australia. He has achieved success in the fields of aerospace engineering design, project management, database development and space research. One such achievement was his Final Year Undergraduate Thesis research and design of an Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) Space Glove to be used by astronauts on space walks. His design involved the use of Shape Memory Alloy Polymers as artificial muscles to increase strength, mobility, longevity, dexterity and control of astronauts. His designs earned him the award for research from the National Committee for Space and Radio Science (NCSRS) and the National Space Society of Australia (NSSA) at the largest Space Conference in Australia; the Australian Space and Science Conference (ASSC) held at the University of Queensland in 2010.

In the same year, he managed a team of 11 students in the design of an Environmentally Friendly Commercial Jetliner the size of the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. He facilitated the conceptual design, preliminary design, documentation, presentation, research and analysis which earned each and every student no less than a Distinction as their final grade.

Additional research he performed was Dynamic Stability Analysis of an aircraft at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This involved flying to an altitude of one kilometre and using lasers to determine aerodynamic behaviour through a variety of manoeuvres. Once again, under his leadership, the team of 10 students were awarded nothing less than a Distinction.

In 2011, he earned the privilege of working and studying at Consaro GmbH, a German Engineering company with 25 years of expertise in the field of Aerospace Engineering, Lightweight Structures and Composites, located in Augsburg, Germany. There he performed Structural Strength Analysis on lightweight aircraft structures such as the Airbus A320, Airbus A330, Airbus A340, Airbus A350 and the Boeing 747-400 series. Investigations he performed included load path analysis of complex mechanical systems, component strength analysis and stability analysis on thin walled structures.

In 2012, he began volunteering for organisations such as Edmund Rice Community Refugee Services and the Smith Family Services. Here he educated and mentored underprivileged and disadvantage youth students ranging from 7 to 18 years old in the fields of physics, english, biology, chemistry and mathematics. This experience has been one of the turning points in his life which have resulted in the educational courses he has now developed.

It was in Germany he began his journey into computer programming, application development and large scale data analysis with data sets reaching into the millions. He went on to refine these skills and was employed as the Ford Motor Company Asia Pacific and Africa Tooling Systems Engineer for Global Asset Management (2013-2014). His contributions in the field of data management, database design, software automation and statistical analysis have been utilised across several continents around the world.

His vision for the future is to share as much of his knowledge as he can to others around the world so that they have the tools to better their lives and those around them. To make learning and education fun, simple, accessible and affordable for those who have long given up on it. His belief is that it is never too late to learn and that curiosity is the key to all success.
