Our lecture today contains two main themes. Firstly, there’s an overview of how human memory works and in the second part we’ll look at how encoding works and the brain activity involved in retrieving a memory.
We’re going to start off today’s lecture with a look at short and long term memory. Then, we’ll explore how memories are recalled and what happens when a memory cannot be retrieved. In the final part of this lecture, we’ll learn how aging can affect memory.
This course discusses the historical content of research into intelligence. It also looks into theories about human memory. This course has been designed to complement UNIT 1 of the level 3 Beyond the Boundaries course book and aims to help you understand the topics contained in this unit.
